It was founded in 637 CE by St.Landelin. The current structure was built in early 13th C CE under the abbots Gilles of Beaumont and Baudouin of Chatelet. Unfortunately, during the French revolution under Napoleon Bonaparte the abbey was pillaged and torched! Today the abbey is completely in ruins, but very picturesque.

Great place to visit to understand and know better the history of this region. Recommend the visit guided by the local people inside.

We were here when the grounds of the Abbaye were closed. Even so, the views were impressive and we enjoyed our visit. We'll definitely come back to visit in the spring when it opens!

We enjoyed walking around this place (gosh I hope I'm reviewing the correct spot). It was 4 Euros for an adult, and we got an English pamphlet with all the texts translated. The entire surrounding area is also beautiful, and a low cost option to viewing some nice old buildings. As with a lot of places nearby, they were cash only. An interesting read and a nice garden.

Beautiful ruins of a Middle Ages abbey, quite similar to the abbey of Villers-la-Ville. There are some information panels in French but not many, so better to read something in advance. Close by there are several brasseries, including the one where they produce (and sell) the local beer and cheeses.
