Excellent provincial museum. At the moment holding a temporary exhibition of the work of the Belgian artist Kamagurka. Well worth a look!

The museum is OK, and (1) has quite a collection of paintings of painters from the region - I would classify it as interesting but not exceptional. (2) it does not deliver well when it comes to the \promise\ of depicting how life was in the region - nothing really exception there, too

Nice vibe and atmosphere. Biennial of Painting 'On Landscapes' surprised me with a mix of really interesting paintings/ artists.

Beetje vreemde openingstijden, voormiddag slechts 2 uur open, maar dat maakt dat je als je om 10 uur arriveert 2 zalige uurtjes kan doorbrengen in aanwezigheid van enkele Vlaamse en Belgische topwerken. Wij hebben wel enkel de kunstwerken bezocht, er is ook een afdeling die aandacht besteed aan allerlei aspecten van Deinze en de Leiestreek in vervlogen tijden. Maar los van alles MOET je gewoon langsgaan om de Bietenoogst van Claus te bekijken. Zet je neer op de bank die voor dit meesterwerk opgesteld staat en geniet, ga niet te snel verder naar het volgende kunstwerk en blijf genieten, zo pakkend en schoon kan kunst zijn!

Het museum hebben we bezocht voor de biënnale van de schilderkunst. De selectie vonden we mager. Weinig veelbelovend werk. De permanente collectie vonden we veel boeiender. De editie van 2018 was veel sterker van werk maar ook van opstelling. De werken hingen maar braafjes op. Weinig pit in gans de tentoonstelling. 3 was voldoende. Buiten liepen een aantal kippen bij het kunstwerk van het ei. Dat was grappig.
