UNESCO site of industrial heritage. Staff is very polite and helpful. Definitely worthy of your visit. Amazing to think in what conditions people lived and worked to provide energy for the country. It is also a place of a human tragedy which took lives of several hundred people.

Amazing site. But not all exhibitions are equally great. Still definitely worth a visit.
There are 4 historic coal mines in Belgium that are listed together under UNESCO as Major Mining Sites of Wallonia. The other 3 are Grand Hornu, Blegny Mine, Bois du Luc. The 4 mines were selected to play a particular role - Grand Hornu for its architecture, Blegny Mine for its know-how, Bois du Luc for its social life, and this Bois du Cazier for its Memory. Here are the Industry Museum, Glass Museum and 8th Aug 1956 Memorial apart from the Coal Mine.
Nice tour and well maintained. Audio guide recommended for the kids.
A preserved coal mine that was the scene of Belgian's worst mining disasters. A very moving audio visual presentation, plus lots of industrial exhibits. Of course, being Belgium, a nice small bar with a selection of local beers.
Interesting history and moving memorial
Nice place to visit and remember the sacrifices miners have to make.
incredible landscape, hiding painful disaster, impressive buildings- a must, near Charleroi. These people will be newer forgotten.
