Terhills is located in Maasmechelen, Belgium on Zetellaan bij Euroscoop. Terhills is rated 4.5 out of 5 in the category national reserve in Belgium. Terhills NV is a subsidiary of the Limburgse Investeringsmaatschappij LRM (Limburg Investment Company). Its mission is to transform the former mining site at Eisden, home to a unique industrial heritage, into a supra-regional tourist destination. As early as 2011, 219 hectares of industrial land were transformed into natural (100 ha.) and recreational (119 ha) areas. The Regionaal Landschap Kempen en Maasland (RLKM) turned it into the main gateway to the Hoge Kempen National Park. The site’s beating heart is set to be the holiday resort, which LRM is developing in association with Pierre & Vacances Center Parcs. The sports zone was given its first concrete project in the form of the successful Terhills Cablepark, whereas the former colliery’s main building was converted into the Terhills Hotel. The state-of-the-art ‘Elaisa’ wellness complex is currently under construction and a new-build project for conferences and events is set to raise the site’s appeal for businesses. The development of the retail zone is in the pipeline. www.terhills.be.
