Skip the big guys in the neighborhood and plan your meal at this place! The beers are excellent, the meal was amazing, and the service was the best we've ever experienced in a restaurant anywhere. You will not be disappointed with a stop here. We had wanted to taste the traditional Flemish stew - stoofvlees and this was the right place. The meal was perfect for us. Support small business and give yourself a treat by stopping here.

The hosts of this place are amazing passionate people that just want you to have a nice evening out.

An absolutely amazing place. The owners are so friendly and you can tell they genuinely love what they do. Their beer is perfect for any time and is a great example of Belgian beer. We felt so welcomed during our visit before Christmas and loved hearing their story. Highly recommend!

Amazing! This has been our best restaurant this year! Everything was spot on and couldn’t be better! The gin was very flavorous, beer was very tasteful, we ordered beef and cod for food, the beef medium rare is really good quality and pink in the middle, just the best! Cod is so fresh and perfectly cooked! Nothing compares with the personal touch of the owner Sam and his family; Sam and his dad greeted us personally and spend a lot of time telling us the history of the building and the family business, the stories behind different pieces of the items in the restaurant, the root tracing back to first WW.... everyone in the restaurant was extremely friendly as well!!! we couldn’t have spent the night in a better way!

Den Gouden Arend is a local gem and puts Poperinge on the culinary map! From beginning to end, it was clear that Sam and his family have poured their hearts and passion into this charming restaurant and brewery. From the locally brewed beers (recommend the amber), to the perfectly cooked steak and brown butter sauce, to the snippets of history and personal touches that Sam brought, a thoroughly memorable experience !

AMAZING Can not recommend Den Gouden Arend enough. The food was sublime and cooked with love and attention to your requirements. The Beer should win many awards, the amber triple was one of the best I have ever tasted, and the Bruin was again gold star worthy. Finally the service, Sam and Conrad were wonderful hosts and could not be more inviting. If you are in the region of Poperinge it is well worth a visit.
