Charming cheese shop that we were told is one of the best in Brussels. And I can see why. The shop is fabulous. We had a little difficulty finding the place, but that made us want to see it even more. But once there, we were helped by a lovely woman, who I believe is the owner, who kindly explained to us all about local varieties and gave us some great recommendations. But be warned: do not touch anything! I made the mistake of trying to read a label (my glasses were foggy from the rain) and slightly moved a wrapped product and from out of nowhere, a terrible little man with a gigantic, ludicrous mustache, barked at me “Don’t touch!” It was like being yelled at by the Village People. Quite shocking. Otherwise, an impeccable shop and a must-see for cheese lovers.

Fantastic shop. It is not a shop it is a place where meeting friends. Veronique and Leo are top. And where buying delicious food. Amazing range of best quality cheeses. Including rarities. Great attention to Geographical Indications. Really an experience for cheeses lovers.

Known as the best cheese shop in Brussels - it’s easy to see why. The exterior of the shop is inviting, including a view into one of the aging rooms (they are known as an affineur). The display area is equally inviting and the array of cheeses invites a beautiful agony of choice: there are soooo many great cheeses to choose from. Fear not because the multilingual staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Next to the display area is a room with tables where you can enjoy a cheese/charcuterie plate with excellent bread and a glass or bottle of wine or beer from an outstanding selection. I had a taste of the l’Ermitage Temple di Ciel - a pale ale flavored with jasmine tea. If you like cheese (or know someone who does) La Fruitière is the place in a Brussels to treat yourself and/or some lucky friends.

Very cosy place , with wide variety of cheeses, unique beers and very attentive knowledgeable service. Will be coming back to taste some more! It's a pity it's open only one evening per week.
