A very beautiful trail can be taken that follows the river, crossing it many times. Shortest walk is about 8 km and starts at the parking spot. Various routes can be taken. Great scenery, and 2 bars at the parking lot for getting a refreshing drink after the hike. Recommended!

I had found this trail on Google, and it is called \Schuim aan de voet van de Venen\. It's a loop of almost 12km and you either have the option to start along the river or through some fields to end at the river. I arrived early at 10AM on a Wednesday with only 10 cars on the (free!) parking La Hoëgne. I decided to go through the fields first and arrived around 12PM at the river again but it was incredibly crowded and I had to pass everyone as they were going the other direction. Golden tip: come early and start at the river because it is like an explosion of families and kids later on which are rather slowing you down if you just come to walk. The place is absolutely gorgeous and a true 'hidden' gem which you should definitely visit. The hike is easy, has a lot of safety rails, just watch where you walk as some wooden steps are broken. Fun day!!

Amazing valley for a nice walk. Prepare for mud. There was snow on top of the hill.

If this is not the most beautifull hike in Belgium ... Please tell me what is! You can startvyour walk on 2 different parts of the hike and everything is very clearly mapped. It will take you along the small river and through the forests. It is a very relaxing walk, if you go during the week there arent many people, but due to the beauty of this place, it does get more crowdy during the weekend. You dont need to take your best walking shoes, but do be advised that you can get muddy. I hope you enjoy the walk as much as we did.

Amazing walk but way too busy. Unable to walk relaxed. Quite full on as well. Lovely for kids to play in the water but not to take them on the full walk. Would love to do it again in less crowded circumstances which I don't really see happening unfortunately

Very nice valley. Gets crowdy on days with nice weather, especially during the staycation period. Full of dogs (not all on a line!!) and children. So not the best walk if you want to enjoy pure nature.

First part of the hike follows the river. After 1.5 hour you reach a point were you have to turn around and you have two options, A and B. We took direction A which I think is the longest. It takes you though the provincial road which is kind of boring compared to the first part of the hike. After some time on the road we took a shortcut back to the river. The whole hike is more suitable for families and seniors in terms of difficulty. If you are young and moderately fit you might find it unchallenging.
