Beautifully preserved and rebuilt cathedral with much historic importance, filled with culturally and historically noteworthy artefacts, as of now also some contemporary art pieces within. Old paintings of amazing quality on the walls, too. And the new glass stained windows are of all colours. Very respectful and respectable to its predecesor, like everything in Ypres.

This church is a must-visit in Ypres. It wasn’t even on Trip Advisor’s top ten things to do in the city so it originally wasn’t on our list. Fortunately, it’s towering presence is hard to miss once you get to the main square. Stunning architecture, vibrant stained glass windows, and beautiful artwork.

Beautiful church. People visiting need to keep it down though as it’s not a social club

(Detailed review below) Ambience - 5/5 Accessibility - 5/5 Cost - 5/5 Ambience - A lovely cathedral centrally located to all the big touristy spots. Lovely sculptures, and stained glass. Accessibility - I don’t recall any steps and in some areas there are slight ramps. Cost - Absolutely free! Tip - Lots of opportunities to take photos of all the carvings, sculptures, the centre altar etc. Very beautiful cathedral with high roofs and loads of light streaming in.

An impressive cathedral right next to the rear of the imposing cloth hall. We attended a service been the eve of all saints. Whilst the service was conducted in Belgium the Mass is universal. Worth a visit. There is a suggested 2 per person fee.
