Great place for horse riding lessons

I was looking for a place to volunteer and be around horses. I used to go regularly horseriding in the fields in my country, but never had a real lessons, so I tried taking lessons, and I was considering a possible subscription. Me (mid-advanced) and my boyfriend (beginner) were told that we could have a lesson at the same time, even with different levels, we would have been given different instructions, but that didn't happen, as we went around the arena about 10 times (3 trotting), while many other (beautiful) owned horses were gallopping around us. We were there before the lesson, as I would have liked to see the horse before getting on it, but we actually rode from 6:20 until a little before 7, as the next group lesson was starting (30 min 30Euros) I don't speak dutch, so we asked for an english teacher and they told us that it wouldn't be a problem, but when we got there, only a dutch speaking teacher was available. I was hoping to learn something theoretical but with the language difference, I figured that wasn't the case. I was curious about the breed and the training (western-english) of the horse I was assigned, but the instructior didn't know (though I'm still guessing a paint), and my boyfriend of 80kg was put on a 30 years old pony... It's like asking an elderly man to carry on his back a kid. I understand that horses that are not owned by people in riding schools are a bit older and that they're used to all kinds of hands, but to me this was really wrong. To wrap it up, I think it's a good place for horse owners because of the many fields and arenas around them, and for parents who want their kids to sit on a horse to get their first feeling; but if you're a person like me, who's passionate about horses, but can't afford one, but would still like to be around the animals and learn, then you might get disappointed.
