When I'm in town with my mom, we always go to \De Rechters\ for lunch. Incredibly friendly staff, great food and nice location! Definitely recommended.

Bang in the middle of one of the main squares in front of St Bavo's church, we had a really great meal here. You'll need to make a reservation, which I did - but turned up a little late - they accommodated us anyway. Had the Beef stew, the chicken casserole (waterzooi), pork cheeks & mussels. All pretty good - the waterzooi was especially great. It's a little touristy and therefore slightly more pricey, the menu is a little small but there's a good selection of beers. we had a great time and thre staff were great.
Don't bother making a reservation, they'll cancel it last minute leaving you high and dry. will not be trying that one again. skip it for anything else. edit: \last minute reservation\ was made at least 24 hours in advance, if you cannot honor a web based service you've signed up for remove yourselves from it. take responsibility for your restaurant.
