During my weekend trip to Brugge I decided to have lunch somewhere where I can try something really Belgian. I searched on tripadvisor but the first suggested place couldn’t provide me with a table because of compulsory reservation. The second option was De Gastro. And I am extremely glad that I had lunch there. At first it wasn’t a problem to find a table for me without reservation. The waiter welcomed me very kindly and friendly. We talked a little bit and it was a pleasure to get known him and his family. I figured out that it’s their family business and they really try to do their best. The waiter also knew some phrases from my native language and I had no difficulties in speaking English to him. He recommended the main dish and I also ordered escargots (snails). The dishes were cooked pretty quickly and they were delicious. I felt like I came to the friend’s house and received a warm welcoming. I definitely recommend this place! Thank you very much!
Excellent food, cozy atmosphere, super nice hospitality! A family restaurant that definitely worth your visit when in Bruges. The owner was welcoming and polite. Big selection of food, especially meat, and very high quality. We loved the rib eye and the traditional beef stew. Also they offered us a warm plate of soup before our meal. Highly recommended, we will definitely come back!

Very a cosy , family style restaurant! Run by a whole family, feel so warm and very good service ! Super good mussels ! Stew beef is good as well ! You can relax and enjoy a cozy dinner

Not sure if it’s standard in Belgium but the service was outstanding. Family run restaurant with great food. We had the rabbit which was lovely and tender and the salmon which was cooked perfectly. Combined with a bit of banter from the waiters it made for a great experience
Reasonable price for tasty mussels and lovely drinks. The restaurant looks nice and the waiter was helpful. Not bad.
