historical bar, worth paying a visit
Perfect for a resting pause while cycling along the Scheldt towpaths. This bar has a rich history and a very pleasant retro interior. About a century ago, this was the place in Wetteren where horses and coachmen had a resting pause, right in front of the station. And these days, it's the perfect stop for cyclists, meandering along the nearby river Scheldt. The interior is very rich and is full of wooden decorations in neo flemish renaissance. No wonder, directors like to come over to make here some recordings for their movies. Paintings above the wainscoting represent in a Breugel atmosphere, old flemish expressions. It is said they were made by an artist who couldn't pay his debts. Opening hours seem to be rather limited. Only on sunday you can admire the interior all day. On friday and saturday, the place opens at 5pm.
