Brussels International Centre for Research and Human Rights (BIC) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization based in the capital of Europe that is committed to facilitating multilevel responses to conflict and its effects on individuals. The BIC functions as a neutral and impartial organization concentrated on enhancing cooperation and partnership between a diverse set of spheres in order to promote human rights and shape policies for peaceful societies to flourish. We are currently focused on conflicts in the MENA region and other parts of Africa. Our philosophy is to take on paths that are rarely pursued (Yes, there are still some), and embrace different aspects and facets of the defence of human rights. We accomplish this by advocating for the protection of victims of terrorism and violent extremism, creating platforms for the humanization of refugees, and supporting the right to work for all. As an organization we utilize our interdisciplinary strengths to analyze fragile political transitions, study rehabilitation efforts in war-affected settings and promote democratic principles, all in a neutral, independent and ethical way. We feel it is important to continually be mindful of both sides of the story and different perspectives while interpreting them into local contexts.
