Its goal was to foster the participation and influence of civil society in the negotiations that led to the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Beyond 2015 grew from 5 organisations in 3 countries in 2010, to over 1,200 Civil Society Organizations in 142 countries around the world in 2015. Beyond 2015’s work focused on promoting a public debate on the Post-2015 Agenda and its key foundations, and on conducting intense advocacy work to share the outcomes of this debate with political leaders at the national, regional and global levels. Beyond 2015's ultimate goal was to achieve the most transformative Agenda possible, and to ensure that the negotiations to define and to adopt it were open to the meaningful participation of civil society. Following the adoption of Agenda 2030 in September 2015, Beyond 2015 officially closed in early 2016. A limited version of Beyond 2015’s website can be found on the link below.
