Just wow. Stunning architecture with amazing history. The site of an old cathedral which was destroyed in a past war. This is easily one of the most gorgeous places in the whole of Bruges. As you can see, it’s an ideal place for a Christmas celebration as well. It’s truly a gorgeous spot.

If Market Square is for merchants and commerce, Burg Square has its own unique feel as the main gates to the city. Some even prefer it more to Market Square, it's more intimate, has parks for people to linger, good food places all around, The Basilica of the Holy Blood, and a different view of the Belfry. We hung out here after our walking tour and within a 5 min walk were waffles, fries and chocolates! Sat by some steps of an old building and people-watched as we enjoyed our treats, people-watched, and rested our aching soles.

Beautiful square.... there was a stage set up when we were there, with a great string ensemble performing (plus accordions). Some couples were dancing the tango at the front of the crowd. Lovely area with beautiful buildings (and the Church of the Holy Blood too).
