BELGIAN RURAL IDYLL Set in the beautiful rural Belgian countryside near Ath, the Gîte L’école du Bois offers a peaceful retreat from busy life. Run by Tanya and Patrick Bricmont-Vanderkerckhove, the accommodation is set in the recently converted classroom of an old village schoolhouse. The Gîte is well furnished in a tasteful and contemporary style to reflect the rural setting. The kitchen and bathrooms have modern fittings, the lounge area is spacious, and the bedrooms are well configured to sleep varying numbers of guests. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful, and the views from the front of the Gîte overlook the countryside. You can walk in the local forest or along the country lanes. This is a great base for sightseeing around Belgium and Northern France, with easy access to the road network and the train station at Ath. The Gîte is half way between Lille and Brussels. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at L’école du Bois, and highly recommend to others.
