It s a peaceful and beautiful place. The Blauwendael castle in Waasmunster was originally built in 1607. The castle was rebuilt in 1889 in neo-Flemish Renaissance style by the Neve de Rode family, after the design of Ghent architect Jozef De Waele. The castle park, located between Kerkstraat and Gentstraat, was built between 1820-1830 in the English landscape style. There is also a conservatory and a carriage in the park. The castle was bought by the Waasmunster municipality in 1980. It now houses a local history museum, among other things. In 1987, the castle was listed as a monument. The castle park is also a protected city view.
