Elsa is a fantastic teacher, warm and precise in her explanations. Thanks to her I have made considerable progress in overcoming difficulties both speaking and writing in French. I contacted Elsa as I needed to use French in my professional environnement but I also wanted to be at ease when socializing. Elsa has always been very patient and encouraging and helped me gain confidence. I enjoyed many of the cultural, literature and historic insights she shared during the lessons.

I started having lessons with Elsa a year ago and now I feel so much more confident and comfortable speaking French. She has really given me the encouragement to not be 'scared to speak' and has helped with my French considerably. Highly recommended!

Elsa is a fantastic teacher. She is patient, kind and passionate. I moved to Paris a few months ago, and although I had prepared by taking French lessons before, I found myself completely lost with the language when I arrived. I had a great feeling that Elsa would be the help that I very much needed, and I am so pleased that I pursued. After 8 lessons, I can already see the progress with my written and conversational French. In one lesson, Elsa will cover a lot, preparing you with all the tools you need. I highly recommend!

I had been trying to learn French through self study and immersion after living in Paris for 1 1/2 years. I found myself still struggling to converse with our French speaking friends and family and decided I needed some professional help. I’m so glad I found Elsa! I appreciated how quickly she responded to my online request and got me set up for lessons in less than a week. After assessing my weak areas, she has tailored a study plan that’s been perfect for me. Of course we do lessons with grammar that everyone needs to know, but what I really enjoy is how she structures our listening comprehension exercises around current and interesting topics. It keeps me engaged and actively learning. In addition to being an extremely professional and effective teacher, she’s also incredibly kind. My biggest hurdle with learning French has been my confidence. I’ve always been afraid to make mistakes so I often don’t try to speak. Elsa has always been encouraging and never made me feel embarrassed if I make an error. After just a few lessons with Elsa, my French in-laws and husband were amazed by my improvement! I can now spend the whole day speaking in French with them, without turning to my husband to constantly translate. Thanks to Elsa , I finally believe that I’ll be fluent in French one day!

I was living in Paris trying to learn French at the Sorbonne when I realized I really needed extra help. Elsa is a fantastic teacher! Within the first 30 minutes of meeting her I realized that it would be best to stop going to the Sorbonne and take private lessons with her. I highly recommend her as a teacher. As a former teacher myself I was very impressed with her teaching style, patience and support. I needed a lot of help not only with grammar but with my pronunciation. She's definitely the best French teacher I have ever had and being from Canada I have had quite a few. I hope to return to Paris one day and take lessons with her again. She's absolutely wonderful!

They say that teachers are born, not made, but Elsa is both. I spent my career training TAs in a language program at the University of California and have seen many wonderful teachers, but Elsa is one of the best. She combines seriousness and professionalism with spontaneity and flexibility. She always seems to know exactly what you need to work on and often supplies a quick, simple, and very clear explanation followed by a specific assignment to do at home. She brings her own experience of living abroad and extensive knowledge of French culture from within and without to the class. Elsa is so easy and interesting to talk to and so well organized that, despite my rudimentary French, my two-hour lessons seem to fly by. I feel that I have progressed much more quickly in a very short time than I ever thought possible and only wish I could stay longer and take more lessons from Elsa -- including her ‘outdoor lessons’, which sound wonderful.

I was in Paris for a week this summer, and contacted Elsa to do daily private lessons -- I get nervous speaking French when it's rusty, and knew I needed a couple of hours of conversation every day to make me less anxious/more confident about speaking French in restaurants, with taxi drivers, etc (it can be deflating to speak in French and be responded to in English, and this happens all the time in Paris, no matter how hard I try to say things perfectly). Elsa was immediately responsive to my email and easy to schedule time with, and she was happy to structure our meetings however I liked -- at my request, rather than doing grammar exercises, she came prepared with interesting conversation prompts, and the learning was fairly informal, with her helping me out when I couldn't find the right word, or when I made a mistake. I felt 10x more comfortable chatting in French at the end of the week than I had in the beginning, which is all thanks to her -- I'm very happy I went for private lessons rather than group classes, which often feel like a waste of time for me since they're far less efficient at addressing my weaknesses. I'm now dreaming of moving from B2 to C1 or C2 -- and I feel very confident that Elsa could help me get there.
