The European Cold Storage and Logistics Association is an international non-profit trade association of national associations who represent companies from the temperature controlled logistics sector, individual companies from this sector, for companies that manufacture or produce products which need to be stored or transported in temperature controlled conditions and associated members who supply the industry with their products. Together with its members ECSLA contributes to the development of a legislative and economic framework addressing the competitiveness of the industry, food safety and quality, consumer protection and respect for the environment with a particular focus on energy efficiency. It is a recognized and respected stakeholder and proponent of the industry with the European Commission and the European Parliament and among the European stakeholder community. ECSLA members provide the temperature controlled storage capacity to safely freeze, store and distribute raw materials such as fruit and vegetable as well as meats and fish products, essential ingredients such as milk and dairy products and all readymade dishes, finished convenient food and frozen food like ice-cream or frozen pizza but also pharmaceuticals products which need to be stored and distributed in temperature controlled conditions. The temperature controlled logistics sector with its temperature controlled (refrigerated) warehouses and temperature controlled (refrigerated) transport modes provides essential links for the frictionless functioning of the food supply chain. With its services of providing an uninterrupted temperature controlled supply chain from farm to fork the sector contributes significantly to the safety of food, its shelf life and the prevention of food waste and food loss.
